This international conference brought together the various initiatives and key players within the open access movement with the intention of maintaining the momentum and strengthening the enthusiasm of all involved in this field.
Keynotes, lectures, and short presentations covered a wide range of subjects, including open access for cultural heritage, open access to scientific (raw) data, the future of journal and non-journal publishing, authors' attitudes towards open access, and new forms of scholarly communications. The conference initiators sought to give attention to the issue of open access and developing countries.
Melissa Hagemann (Program Manager, OSI Information Program) and Iryna Kuchma from the International Renaissance Foundation (Soros Network Foundation in Ukraine) spoke at the event.
