Pride: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex Rights in Malawi

In recognition of Pride month, the Open Society Institute will host a reception for Gift Trapence, director of the Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP) based in Lilongwe, Malawi.

CEDEP is the leading Malawian organization working to combat discrimination and violence against, and ensure access to HIV prevention services for LGBTI people and other vulnerable groups including men who have sex with men (MSM) and sex workers. 

Trapence will provide a first-hand account of recent developments in Malawi, including the presidential pardon of Tiwonge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza, and the state of LGBTI rights.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
