The Open Society Foundations joined 142 Congolese and international civil society organizations in calling for the immediate arrest of Bosco Ntaganda, wanted by the International Criminal Court for his alleged human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including the recruitment of child soldiers.
In a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the groups ask for U.S. support to the DRC government in arresting Ntaganda and bringing him to justice. The groups also urge the U.S. government to assist in security sector reform, a necessary step toward ending the culture of impunity that has allowed alleged human rights violators like Ntaganda to escape accountability.
