The Open Society Foundations and various human rights organizations have called on President Barack Obama to commend public servants and soldiers who rejected the use of torture during times of war. These men and women safeguarded the country’s principles.
Honoring these individuals publicly is especially important as some use Osama bin Laden’s death as an opportunity to reopen the debate on using torture as a method of gathering intelligence.
