This report provides a summary of the discussions of nearly 50 journalists and academics from Latin America and the Caribbean on media coverage of organized crime and drug trafficking in the continent.

The Open Society Foundations, in conjunction with the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at the University of Texas at Austin, gathered this group to benefit the journalism community in understanding and reporting on the implications of organized crime on societies and local communities.
